Part of the OnTakt User Guide.

What is MTConnect?

MTConnect is a vendor-agnostic communication standard that allows external systems (such as OnTakt) to easily request data from compatible machines.

OnTakt compatibility

OnTakt supports MTConnect for reading data from machine controls.

When entering an MTConnect NC URL in OnTakt, the protocol is usually HTTP (HTTPS is also supported if the control uses it) and the port is usually 5000. For example: if the machine's IP address is 10.245.24.7, this should be entered as http://10.245.24.7:5000.

Okuma OSP

Okuma machines are fully supported by OnTakt using MTConnect. The free MTConnect Agent & Adapter app from Okuma may need to be installed if it is not already included on the control.

To connect to an Okuma OSP machine via MTConnect, the URL should look like: http://10.0.0.8:5000

Haas NGC

For Haas controls running software older than version 100.20.000.1200, MTConnect will not provide the full set of data used by OnTakt.[1] In this case, either upgrade the control software or use Haas Q Commands instead.

Note that while Haas Q Commands provide more data than their MTConnect implementation before control software version 100.20.000.1200, they still do not provide the full set of data that the newer control versions do over MTConnect.

To connect to a Haas machine via MTConnect, the URL should look like: http://10.0.0.4:8082

Mazak MAZATROL

Mazak MAZATROL machines are fully supported by OnTakt using MTConnect. Exact control-side setup instructions will vary by machine type.

Other controls

Controls not listed here may be supported depending on their MTConnect output format. If the "Other MTConnect" model doesn't work, contact Wolfram Manufacturing with your machine type and sample MTConnect data.
